Discussion board number two

This week’s discussion board

For my discussion board I was extremely intrigued and surprised when when our group of children went to the river and didn’t see any birds in the discussion around this trying to figure out where they were and why they weren’t there.

In that moment I think something that pricked me was not having the answers I guess or a question in that moment.

Also we did happen to see one bird and the discussion was brown that where the children trying to figure out which bird it wise and how the each had collaborated in the discussion was quite amazing the whole group was into it and listening intently well they were discussing this back and forth I think my favorite part was when a child had said “it has to be an eagle look how big it is”!.

In this part of the discussion of the children when they were trying to figure out what type of birth was that was in the sky there was a bit of uncomfortable within the group this led to democratic practices and demonstrating “making space from many options and views not necessary agreeing” you can find this on page 87 in the early learning framework. “This also is in our daily democratic practices within the living of the program” because we give children opportunities to talk about their differences within moments throughout the day and this clearly was one of those moments.

Which is also on page 87. This brings me to page 83 in the early learning framework in language and communication what opportunities do children have to listen to one another this gives an opportunity for all the children to listen to one another while they discuss why the birds were not there that day and the bird that was in the sky in ways it does encourage children to explore different ways of expressing a single idea as well on page 83 of the early learning framework.

I did notice a grouping of some of the photos had similarities the children were drawing the river quite often in their drawings they were also drawing the eggs as being baby eggs dog egg’s mom eggs big kid eggs little kid eggs and even siblings. One thing that I found interesting and one of the drawings is that instead of the river it was the trail pass and then it led to the ocean and like to explore that a little bit more with that child only revisit his drawing.

The next thing I want to cover is how a child was interacting with the materials that we had chosen to build bird nests she worked quite contently with these materials for over 45 minutes and was quite happy and talking me through how she was placing the sticks the grass the birds etc. one of the questions that came up was “how am I supposed to keep us together’?
